The Wokingham May Fayre will take place on the Bank Holiday, Friday, 8 May and promises to be a very lively day of family entertainment. It is believed to be the largest street fair in the south of England, attracting thousands of people. The event takes place in Market Place, Denmark Street and Elms Field. The fun starts at 10am and continues until 5pm. Admission is free, but there is a small charge for some activities.
The event incorporates celebrations to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day. There will be stage performances throughout the day in Market Place including the Arborfield Military Wives Choir, a 1940s Close Harmony Girls Group and the sound of the Bagpipes. There will be a Punch and Judy show, and Circus Scene Street Entertainers will be roving through the town. There will be over 100 stalls in Denmark Street and Elms Field, promoting local charities and selling food and other items.
There will be a big funfair in Elms Field, along with a petting zoo and a variety of rides and activities. There will also be a second events area for music and other performances.
The main goal of the May Fayre is to provide a low-cost and fun family event, raise money for the nominated charities and enable local charities and other groups to raise money for their causes. Ian Grange and his team organise the May Fayre, which is the club’s biggest annual fund raising event.

Among the many activities this year are Punch and Judy shows, magic shows, morris dancers, animal farm, fun fair rides and circus scene performers. They include the Wokingham Town Council, Prospect Estate Agency, The Wokingham Society plus a number of other local businesses” says Ian.

If you would like to book a space, please download the Application Form. This includes all relevant details, and the Terms and Conditions. You can complete it electronically, save it, then email it to us as an attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively you can print it, complete it by hand then post it to us.
You will also need a Risk Assessment for the event. We have prepared a sample that can be used as a template, and you can download it here
If you will be preparing or selling food you will need to comply with relevant Food Safety regulations. We have provided some guidelines here
We require payment with the application (this will be fully refunded if for any reason we reject the application). The Application Form lists alternative methods of payment:
